When you feel down, have no energy, you feel disconnected from yourself and life feels like a struggle, it’s time to find a new way of living. Here I will give you a hand, reaching out to you to say you’re not alone. Let me give you some practical advice that you can implement into your day to day life to, slowly but surely, get excited about your life again and find light in darker times.
Sometimes you don’t really need alot to instantly feel better. A simple gesture, a moment of calm or some comforting words. But there isn’t always someone available to give you what you need. In those moments you have to give yourself the love and nurturing that you need. It’s always an empowering move to make and you will not be so dependant on others. Self-love can start small:
-Write 2 things you are grateful for and make it a daily habit. Can’t find 2 things? Then start with 1 thing and expand this when you can. This will help you to shift your mindset and focus on the positive.
– Don’t take you thoughts serious: you are not your thoughts. A negative and anxious mind rarely has anything positive (or true!) to say. Anxiety can also make you feel like you are different, to keep you ‘safe’ inside your comfortzone. This way of thinking can create a veil, a dark lens through which you view the world. This lens focuses on the negative, so it will feel like everything is just not working out for you. It’s not your day, year, life. But know that this is not the truth. Life is alot lighter when you don’t listen to the negative self-talk.
-Write affirmations. An affirmation is a short, positive quote to help you refocus to what you can do instead of what you can’t do. When you feel a negative thought pop up, say out loud: ‘I choose positivity instead’. Then replace your thought by an affirmation, for instance: I am moving forward, I am growing, I allow the good to enter my life. Use whichever resonates with you and notice the change!
-Celebrate small victories. It may not look like you’re doing big things, but everything starts small. So be proud of yourself and the work you do to improve. Celebrate by doing something you love, a hobby or a passion you never make time for. Go do it! And enjoy yourself along the way, you are deserving!
There is always light, even in darker days when you feel like everything is going wrong. You just have to know where to look: within yourself. Don’t doubt yourself, replace your negative self-talk with positive ones and find happiness in the small moments of victory. You can do it!
